Meet Our Counselors

YELLOWSTONE COUNSELING CENTER KELLY L. CHRISTY, MS, LCPC I am a 1992 graduate of Montana State University-Billings with a Master of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and Extended Studies. I began my career at the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch in Billings, Montana as a psychotherapist for severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents in the Intensive Care Unit where I provided individual, group, and family therapy. I have been in private practice since 1993. I contracted with South Central Treatment Associates for several years providing treatment for sexual offenders, victims of sexual abuse, and sexually reactive children. In 2000, I opened and managed Yellowstone Counseling Center. I continue to specialize in the treatment of children, adolescents, and adults with depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, eating disorders, victims of sexual abuse, stress management, domestic violence, grief and loss, family, and parenting issues. I am certified in EMDR. I have presented on numerous topics of sexual abuse, sexually reactive children, children in foster care, mental illness in the classroom, anxiety, bullying amongst elderly, and stress management in the work force. I am a member of Montana Clinical Mental Health Association, Association for Play Therapy, American Counseling Association, and Billings ZONTA. JILLIAN MORD, LLC JILL MORD, MS, LCPC I believe that we are constantly striving to reach our true potential, and that when we are loved, valued and accepted for who we are, we feel safe and motivated to reach that potential. I also believe life's obstacles can sometimes prevent us from reaching our goals and that guidance, along with security and empathy, is the catalyst for emotional healing and growth. As your counselor, I will strive to create an accepting and secure therapeutic relationship, as I walk alongside you in your journey towards a fulfilling life. My aim is to create a space of trust, empathy and genuineness to invite vulnerability and to explore maladaptive patterns that may be preventing you from reaching your goal. Having worked with a wide age range, 3 to 95, I understand the importance of meeting you where you are in life, and capitalizing on your individual strengths to achieve the inner peace you seek. I can work with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship difficulties, grief, and trauma. I am particularly passionate in working with young adults, middle school aged adolescents, attachment injuries, anxiety, depressive and mood disorders, and the shame that often accompanies them. I have been working in the mental health field since 2012 and graduated from Montana State University with a Master's of Science in Marriage and Family Counseling. I have experience in working with individuals, including children, adolescents, and adults of all ages, couples, and families. I have also facilitated a wellness group for older adults, and groups for middle school aged adolescents. ANGEL NURSE CONSULTING PATTI MAZURKIEWICZ, MS, RN, LCPC, CNLCP, CRC, NCC My journey to becoming a licensed clinical professional counselor started 35 years ago with a fulfilling, and ongoing career as a registered nurse. I am from a small community in Montana but relocated to Billings eight years ago. I graduated from MSUB in 2018 with a degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. I utilize a holistic philosophy in my practice as I believe healthy nutrition and physical health also play a role in each individual’s overall mental well-being. I use person-centered therapy as the foundation for building a safe place to develop a strong working alliance. Additional modalities I have received specialty training in include: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I also authored two articles for the summer 2022 Journal of Nurse Life Care Planning. LEGACY COUNSELING EMILY SMITH, MS, PCLC I felt called to counseling in my undergraduate education because I had a strong conviction that all people have purpose and value. It is easy to lose sight of these truths when facing the hardships and struggles of life. Counseling provides a safe and accepting environment to explore emotions, thoughts, or experiences with the goal of finding hope and healing. I graduated from Liberty University in 2022 with a master’s in clinical mental health counseling. While completing my education I was able to work in out-patient and residential group home settings conducting individual, group, and family therapy. I worked with Yellowstone Counseling Center through my education and am now working towards my licensure hours as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor Candidate (PCLC). I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families with struggles related to anxiety, depression, PTSD, attachment, grief, and more. As I work towards my clinical hours for my license, I am continuing my education through specialized training and supervision. BY YOUR SIDE THERAPY BILL FREDERICK, MA, PCLC I've always felt a calling to help and serve others. It has long been my belief that one of the greatest ways to help others is not by telling them what to do, but rather by walking with them in their journey and helping them to find their way along the path that they want to follow. That is why I obtained Master’s Degrees in both Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Psychology. People face many different and unique challenges throughout their lives. My broad experience across different fields enables me to not only empathize with the pressures and difficulties that arise in people’s lives, but it is also invaluable for providing tools to help overcome those challenges. As a veteran and former first responder, I can also relate to the specific challenges faced in those demanding roles. This diverse background allows me to connect with clients and support them, no matter what path they are on. With a combined focus on person-centered and solution-focused counseling, I provide an empathetic and a nonjudgmental environment, while employing techniques to help you achieve your goals. I have experience working with clients who have endured trauma and are still experiencing its effects such as PTSD, as well as those who are currently experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, relationship concerns, and more. I’m fortunate to currently see clients under the supervision of Kelly Christy, LCPC, while I continue to obtain the clinical hours necessary to receive my full licensure. BETHANY DIRKSON INTERN I have always had a profound love for people and couples. My journey to becoming a counselor began many years ago when I fell in love with the uniqueness of people and graduated from Montana State University-Bozeman in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. As I am completing my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling, I have had the honor to do what I love – walk alongside those as they journey to the life they desire. I believe that everyone can benefit from counseling by slowly peeling back the layers to discover a deeper understanding of self. I am passionate about working with couples and individuals. I utilize a holistic approach by considering emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual aspects that make each person unique. I offer a safe and accepting environment that meets the unique needs of the person or couple. What life, what changes do you desire? Let us walk together to discover the steps you want to take toward your goals. Whether you are a couple making a last plea for help or an individual checking in with your mental health, counseling can offer you support. I have the privilege of seeing clients under the supervision of Kelly Christy, MS, LCPC, and will graduate with a master’s degree in December of 2024. I have experience working with individuals and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, affair recovery, relationship stress, trauma, and family dysfunction.
